Abstract

970,879. Telescopic masts. FOCKE-WULF G.m.b.H. July 14, 1961 [May 2, 1961], No. 25504/61. Heading E1B. A telescopic support for a working platform comprises a fixed base section 1 and movable upper sections 2-4 provided with nuts 28-30 to co-operate with a vertical power-driven screwed spindle 5. In the contracted position of the support only the nut 30 engages the screwed part of the spindle 5, the other nuts being positioned around an unscrewed portion 31. The sections are guided in their movement by short solid bars 12-14 sliding in full-length channel bars 15-17, Fig. 5, relative movement being limited by the bars 12-14 engaging closure rings 18-20. When the spindle 5 is operated, the section 4 is raised until the bars 12-14 thereon engage the closure ring 20 and lift the section 3 so as to engage its nut 29 with the screw-thread of the spindle. As the section 3 is raised, gravity or spring-operated rods 22 drop, causing curved plates 21 to move under the bars 12-14 on the section 4 to lock it in raised position.
