Abstract
926,908. Lift trucks. R. HAUSER, F. BENGEL, A. SAUTER, and U. SAUTER, [trading as A. I. NACHFOLGER. [Firm of]]. Oct. 15, 1959 [Nov. 10, 1958], No. 34937/59. Class 78 (3). A side-lift truck has a recess 2 for accommodating a lifting mast 3 to which are fixed rollers 9 movable in guide rails 8 located on two sides of the recess. The latter permit lateral movement of the mast under the action of endless ropes or chains 10 which are wound over wheels and are attached at two points to the mast. The ropes or chains may be driven mechanically or hydraulically to produce lateral movement of the mast. A stabilizer is actuated to engage the ground when the lifting mast is taken outwards (Fig. 6, not shown). In one modification (Fig. 5, not shown), the lifting mast may be inclined by the action of an hydraulic piston and cylinder. In another modification (Fig. 6, not shown), the endless ropes or chains are replaced by racks engaging toothed wheels.
