A stabilizing arrangement for a side-loader industrial truck comprises a double-acting hydraulic ram 2 having a piston-rod pivoted to the truck frame at 3, a cylinder 6 pivoted to the piston-rod 10 of an hydraulic ram 9, and a member pivoted at 8 to a foot member 7. As shown in Fig. 1, both rams are in a retracted position, and in Fig. 3 they are shown in an extended, operative, position preventing over. turning of the truck when a load is being raised. In a modification, Fig. 4, an hydraulic ram 14 is pivoted to the vehicle frame at 3 and a member 16, pivotally connected at 17 to the piston-rod 18, has a roller 19 constrained to move in guides 20. A prong member 21 is pivoted at 22 to the member 16 and is shaped to extend under a load placed laterally of the truck. The member 21 passes through a guide member 23 pivoted at 24 to the piston-rod 25 of an hydraulic ram 15. The rams may be replaced by corresponding mechanisms, e.g. screw devices.
