Abstract

880,604. Side operating lift trucks. BOWMAN-SHAW, G. N. Nov. 6, 1959 [Nov. 6, 1958], No. 35731/58. Class 78 (3). The lifting mast 7 of a side-loading fork lift truck is traversed across the truck chassis by a chain 4 which is anchored to the mast at 6, and passes over a roller 5, and a sprocket 2 secured to a shaft 1 which is rotatable by a sprocket 3 engaging a bight in a chain 11. This chain is anchored to the chassis at 12 and passes around a tensioning roller 14 and rollers 13, 15 connected by a tie 16 to the piston-rod 17 of an hydraulic ram 18. The mast is provided with rollers 9 which are guided in tracks 10 secured to the chassis.
