Abstract
862,880. Fork lift trucks. BYGG-OCH TRANSPORTEKONOMI A.B. Sept. 9, 1958 [Sept. 25, 1957], No. 28932/58. Class 78 (3). In a straddle leg fork lift truck wheels 15 on straddle legs 14 are raised from the loading position shown in Fig. 1 to the transport position shown in Fig. 3 by movement of wheel axle 19 along guide-tracks on the legs by an hydraulic ram 24. The axle carries a pair of plates 20 which prevent the axle moving forwardly when the fork is lowered and limit lowering of the fork when the axle is in its forward position. The straddle legs, together with the mast and the other members carried thereby, are movable about a pivot 16 on the truck body by an hydraulic ram 17. In a modification (Figs. 9-11, not shown) this ram is actuated by the pressure in the fork lifting ram 12, and the wheels 18 remain in contact with the ground when they are fully retracted. In another modification (Fig. 8, not shown) a vertical ram acts directly between the axle 19 and the legs 14 and is fed through a hollow piston-rod of ram 24. Various arrangements for guiding axle 19 along the legs are described in detail.
