The telescopic mast structure of a fork lift truck is mounted on a pillar 1 which is rotatable in bearings 3, 4 by a ram 9. The mast is also tiltable about a pivot X by a ram 7. The vertically movable mast section 10 and carriage 12 can be lowered between the wheels 8 so that the forks are at ground level. The pillar 1 is arranged off - centre relative to the longitudinal axis of the truck.
