Abstract

956,438. Outriggers for mobile cranes. STEELS ENGINEERING PRODUCTS Ltd. May 16, 1960 [May 15, 1959], No. 16668/59. Heading B8B. An outrigger 1, Fig. 1, for a mobile crane is either telescopically or pivotally mounted on the crane chassis and carries or has mounting means for a wheel 3. The wheel 3 may be mounted to provide a castor action and may be vertically adjustable by means of a screw. Fig. 4 shows an alternative construction in which an axle 11 pivots on a pin 12. In a further embodiment, Fig. 6 (not shown), a two-wheeled bogie with aligned wheels is articulated at right angles to the outrigger 1. The wheels are held at right angles to the outrigger and can be adjusted vertically by a screw jack.
