Abstract

1369535 Bridge-laying vehicles; portable bridges KLOCKNER-HUMBOLDT-DEUTZ AG 27 March 1972 [2 April 1971] 14182/72 Heading E1G In a mobile bridge assembly wherein a tracked vehicle 1 carries two or more interconnectable bridge sections 14, 15 which are superposed for transport, Fig. 2 (not shown), on a tiltable telescopic launching beam 5-6-7-2, as in Specification 1218435, the innermost beam section 2 is pivoted on a transverse axis 3 and is provided at its rear end with a poweractuated swing arm 9 for locking (during transport) and handling (during assembly) the upper bridge section 14. At the bank of an obstruction, Fig. 5, (a) the telescopic beam is extended to reach the opposite bank, while the arm 9 is raised to lift the bridge section 14; (b) the bridge section 15 is rolled forwardly by gear wheel 20, while the section 14 is tilted and lowered about roller 19 as shown to allow interconnection of the bridge sections 14, 15 before off-loading along the telescopic launching beam. The U- shaped arm 9 is actuated by a jack 11 and engages the bridge section through rollers 13 and either retractable pins (not shown) or, Fig. 3 (not shown) rounded rectangular projections (21) engaging C-shaped openings (22). Each bridge section includes a pair of girders interconnected by hinged rods accommodating uneven ground.
