Abstract

1,123,631. Endless-track vehicles. RAYMOND INTERNATIONAL Inc. 15 Sept., 1965 [5 Oct., 1964], No. 39388/65. Heading B7H. [Also in Division E1] A mobile derrick, e.g. a pile driver, comprises a turntable 14 mounted on a pair of traction units 26 having endless tracks, which turntable supports a vertical boom or leader (28), Fig. 1 (not shown), for a hammer unit (32), said traction units being horizontally retractable to facilitate transportation of the derrick in a partially collapsed and dismantled condition on either one or two motor vehicles (300, 302), Figs. 26, 27 and 28 (not shown). The endless tracks are driven by hydraulic motors (206), Fig. 13 (not shown), through a chain (210) and gearing (211, 212), each unit being attached to a bedsill 116 by pivoted links 214 and collapsible links 226 with hydraulic piston-and-cylinder units 224 therebetween for retracting the traction unit towards the bedsill. The turntable 14 is rotatable about a vertical tubular pin (114), Fig. 14 (not shown), which is provided with a bore 120 and fixed to the bedsill. Support for the turntable is provided by a plurality of pairs of rollers (166) attached thereto and engaging with a circular track 126 carried by a hub 124 upon the bedsill. Rotation of the turntable is effected by a motor (132) through gearing (138), 140 and gear-teeth on the track 126.
