Abstract

1382265 Aircraft transporter M L AVIATION CO Ltd 5 March 1973 [3 Dec 1971] 56243/71 Heading B7H An aircraft transporter for transporting aircraft with skids includes a frame 10 supported at each end by wheels, a steering control 12 for the wheels at one end and a motor 14 which drives the wheels 16 at the other end, the frame supporting a hauling device for producing relative movement between the transporter and an aircraft, and two parallel tracks for the reception of the skids of the aircraft. As described an hydraulic motor 14 is connected by hydraulic couplings (not shown) to supply power to the wheels 16 which are driven by way of an intermediate shaft 17. The tracks for the skids of the aircraft are formed by pairs of rollers 24, 28 and 26, 30 arranged at each side of the transporter. The aircraft is loaded and unloaded by means of a winch 18 which drives two drums 20, 22 having cables 44, 46 which can be attached to the aircraft. Alternatively the aircraft may be loaded and unloaded by means of an endless chain and sprockets assembly (not shown) running longitudinally through the frame, a cable being connected at one end to the aircraft and at the other end to a convenient link in the endless chain. The hauling device, i.e. the winch or chain may be driven by the same motor as the wheels.
