Abstract

880,149. Endless belt conveyers. MOY, P. C. D. March 17, 1960 [March 23, 1959], No. 10005/59. Class 78 (1). The frame of an endless belt conveyer, which is mounted upon a power-driven wheeled vehicle, comprises two or more sections which are articulated together so that the angle of elevation of at least one section may be varied, the belt being driven by a reversible hydraulic motor. As shown, Figs. 1, 3, the conveyer frame comprises section 14, 15 which are pivoted to a support 13 mounted on the vehicle 10 and which are luffed by hydraulic rams 28, 26, the lower run of the belt 16 being engaged by a drum driven by a reversible hydraulic motor 17 which is supplied with fluid from a pump driven from the vehicle engine 30. The edges of the belt are guided by metal strips 34, Fig. 3, which are connected at the point of articulation of the sections by flexible steel strips 35. The belt is stiffened by battens 36 mounted on spring steel strips 37. The sections 14, 15 of the conveyer frame are provided with retractable side guard rails, Fig. 1 (not shown), and the section 15 is provided with a rest 38 to lock the section in the travelling position, Fig. 1. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 5, the conveyer frame comprises three articulated sections 40, 41, 42, the sections 41, 42 being luffable about axis 44 by hydraulic rams 47, 46 and the section 40 being provided with a ground-engaging jack 52. The belt-guiding steel strips 35 are replaced by idler rollers 53.
