Abstract
1,082,454. Endless conveyers. HEWITT-ROBINS INTERNATIONAL S.A. Jan. 20, 1965 [Jan. 20, 1964], No. 2540/65. Heading B8A. A coal winning machine 34 is connected with a fixed conveyer 28 by an adjustable endless belt conveyer 84, in conjunction with one or more adjustable endless belt conveyers 86. The junction between the conveyers 84 and 86 is effected by a carriage 174 which pivotally supports at 154, 156 (Fig. 20, not shown) bearing members 140, 142 on an end frame member 130 of the conveyer 84. In addition relative angular movement of the conveyer 84 about a longitudinal axis is provided by a pivotal connection 106, 132, between a frame member 98 rigid with the frame of the conveyer 84, and the member 130. Each carriage 174 has a shoot 200 for directing coal from its associated conveyer on to the next conveyer downstream. The carriage 174 at the end of the conveyer 86 which feeds into the fixed conveyer 28, has steerable, ground-engaging, power-driven wheels 298. The driving power is obtained from individual hydraulic motors fed by a pump 306 (Fig. 10, not shown) driven by an electric motor 304. The carriage 174 of each remaining conveyer 84 or 86 has non-driven wheels 182 (Fig. 15, not shown) which run on the side frame members 94, 96, of the next conveyer downstream. Guides 188, 190 maintain alignment. This enables the conveyers to adjust relative to each other in telescoping manner (Fig. 26D, not shown). Each conveyer section 84 or 86 has steerable, driven, wheels 234, 236 at its upstream end. An hydraulic cylinder 268 (Fig. 7, not shown). operating through chains 274, 276 and sprockets 280, provides the power for steering. Individual hydraulic driving motors 256, 258 (Figs. 18, 19, not shown), are carried on the wheel assemblies. The hydraulic power is provided by the pump on the carriage 174 adjacent the conveyer 28.
