Abstract

1323801 Mobile breakdown cranes R D HASSTEDT 16 Aug 1971 38319/71 Heading B8H A combined crane and vehicle-towing trolley is provided with road wheels 22 and castors 18 which are selectively engageable with the ground. A pair of frames, each provided on its underside with a castor 18 and on its upper side with a road wheel bearing support, Fig. 1, are interconnected by a shaft 36 extending through a sleeve 38 which supports an upright 42 provided with a boom 44. Stabilization legs 54, provided with castors 56 and with pivoted arms 60, are secured to the frames. On turning the legs 54 and frames through 180 degrees relative to the sleeve 38 and upright 42 from the position shown in Fig. 1, the road wheels 22 are brought into engagement with the ground, Fig. 6. The upright 42 consists of a sleeve 66 secured to the sleeve 38 and rotatably supporting a sleeve 66 on which a telescopic boom 44 and and hydraulic luffing ram 48 are mounted. For towing a vehicle, Fig. 6, the vehicle is connected to one end of a rope 90 which passes round pulleys 96, 98 on the upright 42 and is connected at its other end to a chain on the boom. On raising the boom, the vehicle is lifted into engagement with a bumper block 104 on the upright, Fig. 3 (not shown). For transporting the trolley on its road wheels, it is turned through 90 degrees from the Fig. 1 position and a hitch 72 on the upright 42 is connected to a towing vehicle.
