Abstract

1333291 Step ladders STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd 6 Jan 1971 622/71 Heading E1S The treads of a step ladder are slidably mounted in pairs of horizontal runnels 7, 8 secured to the side members (not shown), so that a selected tread, 3 as shown, may be displaced forwardlyof the ladder to form a platform beyond the line of the remaining treads. A stop bar 10 on the underside of the tread engages cross-beams 13, 14 connecting the runners to restrict the travel of the tread, and the tread carries a spring-loaded ball catch at each side edge near the ends of the bar 10 for engagement with holes 18 and 20 or 19 and 21 in the runners to secure the tread. A further fixed tread may be mounted on the pair of runners 7, 8 above the slidable tread, to increase the platform area.
