Abstract

The free-standing ladder comprises a number of stackable and nesting sections. Each of these can comprise three or more vertical columns (5-7) with connectors between them (8-10) at different levels. It can have a base frame extending horizontally with members extensible towards the sides, while stays are fitted between the extended members and the ladder, inclined upwards. The sections can be secured by a central chain or rope running through them and pulled tight, and guy ropes (22) can also be run between the ladder and the frame. A working platform can be provided, extending outside the sections.
