Abstract
277,532. Christiein, P. Dec. 4, 1926. Fixed-abutment type; replacement of internal parts, facilitating ; discharge and suction pipes and passages for pumps; packing vanes.-The rotor d of a rotary engine or the like which comprises rotary vanes a moving round in an annular space divided by one or more abutments s<1> is formed with end plates b which enclose the working spaces and have relatively long peripheral surfaces 3 coacting with the inner peripheral surface of the casing but with a small clearance therefrom so that the pressure in lateral clearance spaces 2, 2<1> remains below the maximum pressure in the working space. The abutments s<1>, which are separately formed and readily replaceable radiallythrough the casing, are formed with inlet and outlet passages 5, 6 of a cross-section approximately the, same as that of the annular working space and may be fitted with spring non-return valves 7. Ribs 8 are formed on the casing periphery to prevent back-flow when the groove in the vane is adjacent the periphery. The vanes are caused to roll round the casing by pinions n<1> on the vane axles meshing with pinions n carried by the rotor which roll round a pinion m formed on a bushing l fixed to the casing and supporting the rotor shaft g. The number of rotary vanes may be such that at least two are always moving in a working space.
