Movable-abutment type; packing drums, vanes, abutments, and the like.-Liner plates k, l are provided on the periphery and extend round the vane edges of crescent-shaped rotor elements c, d which form a Roots'-blower type of rotary engine, pump, or the like, the rotor elements c, d both engaging two crescent-shaped abutments e, f fixed in the casing. Side packing plates k may be provided for the rotors, as shown in Fig. 5. The casing also is fitted with peripheral liner plates. Two units may be combined to serve as a power transmission device or to form a compressor and internal-combustion engine unit. Lubricating ducts m, n are provided for the casing walls; additional ducts supply the gears whereby the rotor shafts are connected and lubricant passes by spiral grooves in the shafts to the rotor-carrying bosses i, j.
