Abstract
276,703. Edison Swan Electric Co., Ltd., Soundy, L. H., and Price, T. W. April 28, 1926. Drawings to Specification. Vacuum tubes.-The electron-emitting surface of a cathode is confined to a small area such that the potential drop across the surface is less than one tenth of a volt and less than 1/500 of the potential drop between the surface and the anode. For instance, a spot of calcium or strontium oxide may be applied to a platinum filament, the length of the emitting surface being less than one-tenth of the length of the filament. The anode is of cylindrical or flattened cylindrical form, and its length is many times greater than that of the emitting surface. One or more control electrodes are provided. The valve gives a characteristic with a sharp bend.
