Abstract

Single - acting suctionvalveless piston pumps; suction and delivery reservoirs. - A hand-actuated grease gun comprises a working cylinder h with a grease receiving chamber h<1> at its upper end and a delivery nozzle i which when pressed against an oil hole forces a plunger e down into the grease chamber h<1> of a cylinder h thereby forcing the grease through a non- release valve k and through the nozzle i, the cylinder h being packed by a ring n at its lower end and its upper chamber h<1> being packed by an annular packing ring o. When the gun is withdrawn from the oil hole a spring l withdraws the cylinder head h<1> from the plunger e and causes a vacuum which is filled up by grease entering from the main container a through ports f. The vacuum also causes the piston b to move down in the container a, the packing disc b<2> being sufficiently tight to maintain the vacuum until this movement takes place. The chamber h<1> of the working cylinder is spun over at the end to grip the elastic packing ring o and its retaining ring p. The piston b can be easily withdrawn from the main grease container by a chain and spring bolt which arches the packing disc b thus relieving its edges from pressing against the sides of the container.
