Abstract
276,474. Hundemer, W. F. July 1, 1926. Single-acting suction valveless pumps; suction reservoirs.-A grease pump comprises a reservoir 1 fitted with a cap 4 in which a transverse bore 7 is formed to serve as the barrel for a pump plunger 11. The grease enters the barrel 7 from the reservoir 1 through two ports 8 and is delivered through a port 9 when the plunger 11 is depressed by a lever 12. The reservoir is fitted with a rod 18 on which a piston 19 is slidably mounted and held against an end nut 23 by a spring 24. The rod 18 is locked against outward movement by a spring catch 31 embracing it. The reservoir may be filled by extracting the cap 4, immersing the open end in grease, and withdrawing the piston 19. In another form the grease enters the barrel 7 through a nipple screwed into the conical end of the reservoir, and the barrel carries an annular flange which supports the end of the reservoir. Air entrapped in the reservoir 1 may be released by unscrewing the end 4 sufficiently to open a vent 35.
