Abstract

271,687. Marks, E. C. R., (Williams Oil- O-Matic Heating Corporation). Aug. 10, 1926. Spray burners.-In an oil burner a mixture of air and oil supplied under pressure through a conduit 10 is atomized by passage through a block 15 carrying an apertured cap 12 and containing a spring-pressed spiral member 17. Supplementary air is supplied through a conduit 20 fitted at its end with a deflector 19 having adjustable blades 23 which whirl the air in the opposite direction to that in which the fuel is moving on issuing from the aperture 13 on the cap 12. The deflector 19 is provided with a hub 21 by which it is adjustably secured on the block 15 by a screw 22. The fuel mixture is ignited by a gas pilot jet, which is fitted with an electric sparking device 25. A thermo-control member 26 is also provided.
