Abstract
252,173. Sharples Specialty Co., (Assignees of Sharples, P. T., and Jones, L. D.). April 2, 1924, [Convention date]. Recovering waste lubricant &c. - Lubricating oil is purified by passage from a pipe 13 to a centrifuge 14 which retains heavier impurities, such as solids and water, and discharges the liquid through an opening 23 to a space 24 within a casing 15 through which a current of air or gas is passed via a pipe 29 or over the motor 17, a passage 28, and an outlet 26 to remove volatile matters. The treated liquid passes away through an outlet 16. Preferably the incoming liquid is spread by a cone 21, vanes 22 are provided to ensure the rotation of the liquid with the bowl, the air current is induced by the rotation of the bowl 14 provided, if necessary, with vanes 25, and the air current is used to cool the motor 17. Specification 231.877 is referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 204,047, [Class 23, Centrifugal machines &c.].
