Abstract

242,388. Burdick, C. L. Sept. 12, 1924. Separators. - Apparatus for the separation of oil and water particles from compressed air or gas comprises a body portion having inlet and outlet passages and a chamber containing a filter formed of an inner and an outer cylinder, the space between them being closed at one end and having an air passage at the other end. The body portion 1 is inserted in the air or gas supply pipe and may be provided with union nut connections and a wall bracket. It has a circular portion detachably secured by studs and nuts to a casting 3, packing rings 5 preventing leakage between the parts. A cylindrical cover 10 having a drain tap 12 is secured to the casting 3. The filter comprises an annular perforated cylinder 7 of metal &c.., which may be made more rigid by a cap at its lower end and is surrounded by a cloth screen 8 secured by open rings. These parts are secured to a detachable piece 6 within the casting 3, formed with outlet passages for the purified air or gas.
