Abstract
672,040. Separating liquid particles from gases. MORGAN, J. H. Jan. 29, 1951 [Jan. 27, 1950], No. 2132/50. Class 123(iii) Oil-laden &c. gas is dried by passage through metal-wool &c. 22, preferably non-ferrous, located in, for example, a container 13 which may be disposed within an outer casing 10 and has a conical or domeshaped perforated metal base 19 provided with peripheral oil outlet holes 23. Gas is admitted to the container 13 and casing 10 through a pipe 18, and dried gas leaves through pipes 9, 17. Preferably the base has an upwardlyprojecting peripheral lip 21, which is a push fit on to the lower end of the container 13, and the perforations 20. therein may have flanges 34 formed by leaving in place the metal displaced during production of said perforations by upward plunging. The deposited oil &c. 4, accumulating in the bottom of the casing 10 and subjected to the gas pressure in the latter, may be removed by a pipe 24 which extends axially through the container and is provided at its open lower end with a valve, not shown; controlled by a float 32. The separate container 13 may be dispensed with, the base 19 then extending wholly across a horizontal section of the container 13.
