246,437. Bayerische Elektricitõts Werke. Jan. 24, 1925, [Convention date]. Addition to 240,410. Alternating-current motors.-In an induction motor having two secondary windings as described in the parent Specification, the reactance of the low-resistance winding is increased at starting by means of magnetic segments in contact with the short-circuiting rings, which segments are raised by centrifugal force when the motor is running. The bars B, Fig. 1, connected to end-rings K<1> form the high-resistance starting winding, and the bars A with the end-rings K form the low-resistance running winding. The low-resistance end rings are surrounded by fixed magnetic parts e and magnetic parts D which move outward under centrifugal force in opposition to springs f. The end-ring may be shaped as shown in Fig. 5, and iron pieces z may be inserted in slits S.
