Alternating-current motors; conductors; cores. -The rotor of an induction motor is provided with alternate deep and shallow slots 4, 5, the conductors in the shallow slots 5 and in the narrow top parts 7 of the deep slots 4 being connected together to form a high-resistance lowreactance .winding, and the conductors in the lower parts 8 of the deep slots being connected together to form a low-resistance high-reactance winding. To obtain uniform flux density in the teeth, the parts 10 between the shallow slots and the upper portions of the deep slots are uniform in cross section and of substantially half the cross section of the teeth between the lower parts 8 of the deep slots. A single short-circuiting ring 9 may be employed at each end of the rotor to which all the bars are connected, preferably by being cast together.
