Abstract
250,743. Hoseason, D. B., and Metropolitan-Vickers Electrical Co., Ltd. March 30, 1925. Alternating-current motors; conductors.-In an induction motor having a double squirrel-cage rotor, tubular conductors are provided for the highresistance cage. Narrow slots 4 in the rotor laminae are formed with enlargements 5 near the periphery for the high-resistance tubular conductors 10 and with enlargements 6 at the base for the low-resistance conductors 7. The bars 7 of the inner winding are welded to end-rings 8, the ends being burred over or rivetted as at 9. The tubular conductors 10 are welded to end-rings 11 which are preferably separate from the rings 8. Tapering copper pins 12 are forced into the open ends of the tubes 10; the ends may also be burred over as at 13. The two cage windings are preferably of copper, and unless the laminae of the core are insulated from each other, the bars may be insulated throughout their length.
