Alternating - current motors; cores. -The slotted core of a dynamo-electric machine is built up of a number of similar laminations having slot openings offset relatively to the main portions of the slots, and some of the laminations are reversed relatively to the others so that the effect of a partially closed slot is obtained. As shown applied to a synchronous motor. the field poles 6 are provided with slots 12 which receive the conductors 10 of a squirrelcage starting winding. The slots are arranged symmetrically with regard to the centre lines of the poles, but those in the pole-faces have openings 14 displaced to one side. Fig. 4 shows alternate laminations reversed relatively to each other.
