Abstract

306,099. British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Bergman, S. R.). Feb. 15, 1928, [Convention date]. Cores; windings.-The stator of an alternating- current motor is made of square laminations 1, the slots opposite the corners of the squares being deeper than those opposite the sides and the winding substantially filling the slots. The slots opposite to a side of the square correspond to the same pole and their axes are substantially parallel. The number of turns of the winding per slot varies approximately sinusoidally round the stator; for example, the slots 2 may contain forty turns each, the slots 3 thirty-six, the slots .4 twenty-six, and the slots 5 ten.
