Abstract

1486749 Rotors for synchronous dynamoelectric machines WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORP 4 May 1976 [8 May 1975] 18143/76 Heading H2A A rotor for a synchronous dynamo-electric machine has slots 1-12 grouped about pole faces 26, and a winding which comprises a plurality of form-wound coils with diamond end portions 28 and connected in a progressive winding to form poles of alternating polarity. The coils are thus identical, full-pitch (rather than concentric) coils with one side of each coil in a slot bottom, the other at a slot top. The core comprises annular laminations clamped between end plates and mounted on a spider. Spaces between groups of end windings are filled by insulating blocks (38), Fig. 3 (not shown), or by dummy end windings, before circumferential banding is applied. Alternatively, such spaces may be eliminated by disposing the slots non-symmetrically about the pole centres or having coils of dimensions similarly non-symmetric.
