Regulating.-In a turbine comprising high and low pressure stages 3, 4 and a ring of nozzles 11 for admitting low-pressure steam from an auxiliary inlet 9 to the low-pressure blading 5, the admission to the parts 10 leading to the nozzles 11 is controlled by an an annular axiallysliding valve 12 which is concentric with the turbine shaft. A servo-motor controlled by a speed governor, or by a pressure-responsive device, or by a combination of the two, imparts a circumferential movement to the valve 12, and an arrangement of diagonal slots and keys converts this movement of the valve into an axial one. The valve 12 may be arranged between the stages of an extraction turbine wherein interstage steam is tapped for heating and other purposes.
