Abstract
377,048. Steam turbines. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET, Vasteras, Sweden. Nov. 4, 1931, No. 30621. Convention date, Nov. 4, 1930. [Class 110 (iii).] Relates particularly to plant in which steams at different pressures are first used in turbines for the production of electrical energy, and are then applied to other uses as for cooking and drying in the wood pulp industry. The turbine comprises a radial-flow section of blading 5 carried by oppositely-running rotors 3, 4 and a separate section of single-rotary blading 11 carried by the rotor 4. The sections are supplied with steam at different pressures by pipes 7, 12, the supply to the section 5 being governed in accordance with the electrical load. The section 5 exhausts into a chamber 8 from which back-pressure steam is drawn off by a pipe 9 as required for drying purposes. Should the supply of steam at the point 8 be in excess of the demand, it may be passed by a pressure controlled interstage valve 16 to a condensing turbine section 14. Packing is is arranged between the sections 5, 14. The steam from the back pressure blading 11 is taken off by a pipe 13 for cooking purposes, and steam may also be extracted at an intermediate point 10 and led off by a pipe 19. Live steam may be supplied to the back-pressure and draw-off pipes when the electrical load on the turbine falls to such a value that it does not pass sufficient steam for the industrial requirements.
