389,684. Steam turbines. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET, Vasteras, Sweden. June 2, 1932, No. 15696. Convention date, June 4, 1931. [Class 110 (iii).] In a radial-flow extraction turbine having two or more groups of blades 21, 22 carried by discs 3, 4, 5 on oppositely rotating shafts 1, 2, the passage of steam from the first group to the second group is controlled at an extraction point by an annular valve 33. Packing members are provided at 31. The main steam supply takes place from a chamber 7 and overload steam may be supplied to or steam may be extracted from additional chambers 8, 9, 10 connected with inter-blade spaces. End-thrust balance may be secured by varying the sizes of the discs of the labyrinths 13, 14 or by leading leakage steam from the high-pressure labyrinth 13 to the low-pressure labyrinth 14 by a pipe 36. The space 24 between the discs 5, 6 may be bladed.
