Materials for making gas, coke, and other products. - Finely-divided coke or coke breeze is dried by heat, mixed with a binder such as tar, pitch, or bitumen, and the moulded mixture is heated out of contact with air so that gasification of the oils in the binder takes place. Lignite coke with or without lignite may be added to the coke and binder and the lignite may the coked by the heat treatment. Evolved gases are recovered by condensation.
