Abstract

169,847. Seidenschnur, F. July 15, 1920. Coking processes; producers.-Coal, lignite, &c. is dried in a chamber V, carbonized in a chamber Sch, and the product partly gasified in a producer G and partly collected. A pump H1 draws off the steam and gases from the drying-chamber and delivers them partly to a chamber M, in which they mix with the products of combustion of the producer gas and air, partly to below the grate of the producer and partly to a mixing- chamber m. A pump H2 supplies air to the producer and to the mixing-chamber M, the hot gases from which pass to the carbonizing-chamber Sch and through the mixing-chamber m to the drying-chamber V. Thus the lignite is dried by hot waste gases charged with a certain amount of steam, and the carbonizing is effected by a mixture of hot gases and steam at a temperature not over 500‹ C. The material in the drying and carbonizing chambers may be treated on stepped grates or on movable chain grates.
