Abstract

16,958. Rigby, T., and Testrup, N. July 25. Drawings to Specification. Peat, preparing.-Wet carbonized peat obtained as described in Specifications 10,834/03 and 6041/10 is dried, to contain 55 per cent of moisture, in two stages, first in a filter-press, and secondly by the direct action of flue gases obtained from the furnace of a boiler yielding steam for drying or from any other furnace of the installation, the peat thus dried being used in an ammonia-recovery gas-producer, or a briquetting - plant. The final drying in the latter case may be effected in a Schultze drier heated by steam supplied by a boiler, the furnace gases of which pass to the drier partly directly and partly by way of the carbonizers. The dried material may be graded by sifting, the larger portions being employed in a gasproducer and the smaller dried for briquetting. Specification 4684/11 is referred to.
