234,133. British-American Laundry Machinery Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Carroll, E. J.). May 15, 1924, [Convention date]. Driving and suspending.-A centrifugal extractor has a curb 4 with bottom opening 19 receiving the bearing 11 for the driving spindle 9 of the basket 3, the curb being mounted so as to oscillate on an universal joint 15 carried by the frame 2, the bearing 11 being removable from below. The bearing comprises a cup-shaped member 18 secured by bolts 21, and can be removed for inspection, lubrication, or repair without disturbing the curb 4, the foundation 5 being provided with a central opening 6 communicating with a side opening. The spindle 9 is driven by the rotor of an electric motor 17 carried by a cross-bridge 13 which also supports an intermediate bearing for the spindle 9.
