Abstract

Pumping-machines.- The impeller 2 of a centrifugal pump is mounted on the same shaft as the rotor of its driving motor 5, and the pump casing is connected to the motor by a hollow supporting member 6. A flange 7 on the member 6 serves for the attachment of the motor, and the apparatus can be secured to a reservoir containing liquid, or, for example, to a machine tool to which a cooling medium is to be supplied. The pump is arranged with its suction side uppermost and opening into the hollow member 6. The shaft 1 runs in bearings 3, 4, the former 3 of which is preferably located in the member 6 but is arranged to be always above the liquid level while the pump is always below it. The apparatus may be placed outside the reservoir- and connected to it by a pipe.
