279,448. International General Electric Co., Inc., (Assignees of Allgemeine Elektricitõts-Ges.). Oct. 20, 1926, [Convention date]. Pumping-machines.- A pump 9 for cooling medium has a vertical shaft 1. A hollow body 4 is connected to the pump casing and has a flange 8 to support the driving motor 10. The pump is immersed in the cooling medium in the tank 11 which has a cover 12 with a socket 5 provided with a set screw 6 for adjustably securing the body 4. The pipe 14 conducts the pump discharge, and the bearings 2, 3 are sufficiently far from the pump to prevent liquid from reaching them. A pressure equalizing opening 7 is made in the body 4 and this may be in connection with the pump suction. The pump may be arranged outside the tank and below the level of the cooling medium.
