Abstract
694,678. Toothed gearing; securing elements to shafts; universal joints. AKTIEBOLAGET SEPARATOR. March 29, 1951 [March 30, 1950], No. 7311/51. Classes 80 (i) and 80 (ii). [Also in Group II] A vertical spindle 4 supporting a centrifugal drum 1, is mounted in a lower fixed radial bearing 5 and an upper resilient radial bearing 7. It is driven by a worm gearing comprising a worm 9 mounted on the spindle, a worm wheel 10 mounted on a driving shaft 8 and a resilient member for supporting either the worm or the worm wheel on its associated shaft. The worm comprises a worm proper 12, a sleeve 14 provided with pin holes 15 and a spring 13 therebetween. The worm parts are formed integral with one another or are interconnected to form a single unit and accommodate the spindle with a force fit. In a modification, the worm proper and the spring are loosely mounted on the spindle. Alternatively, the worm wheel is resiliently mounted on its shaft 8 in the manner already described.
