Abstract

862,591. Balancing shafts. PLOWRIGHT BROS. Ltd. Dec. 5, 1958 [Dec. 5. 1957], No. 37856/57. Class 80 (2). To balance a machine such as a vibratory screen apparatus having the vibrations of the screen &c. produced positively by rotation of a shaft D which is either itself eccentrically mounted or is formed with an eccentric engaging the screen, the shaft carries a collar C to which is secured a a pin B on which slides a mass A biased radially inwards against centrifugal force by a spring E, the radial position of the mass and the inertia of the system varying with the speed of rotation of the shaft.
