Abstract

609,599. Vibrating devices. ARMSTRONG, J. J. V. (Aktiebolaget Vibro-Betong). April 1, 1946, No. 9950. [Class 80 (iv)] [Also in Group II] In a vibrating device for mixing concrete &c. comprising an outer casing 5 to be vibrated and a rotating shaft 1 supported at one end therein, the shaft carries a weighted boss 9 having a conical portion 3 which rides on the interior of the casing to form a conical pendulum. The weight of the shaft is distributed equally on either side of the zone of contact A of the portion 3 and the casing to balance the radial forces. The weight of the boss may be slightly eccentric to the axis of the shaft to facilitate starting. In a modification the boss may be formed with a cylindrical recess at its end engaging a projection of smaller diameter on the casing. Specification 489,250 is referred to.
