Abstract

803,865. Vibrators. PREPARATION INDUSTRIELLE DES COMBUSTIBLES. Sept. 20, 1955 [Sept. 28, 1954], No. 26899/55. Class 80 (4). In an eccentric mass vibrating device the mass is composed of solid particles and/or liquid contained within an offset chamber on a rotating member. In Fig. 1, the mass 1 is contained within a cylindrical chamber 5 which is eccentrically disposed on a member 3 rotating with a shaft 4. On starting the rotation of member 3, the mass 1 rolls around the chamber 5 towards the inner part thereof so that it has no or little centrifugal effect. As the member 3 speeds-up the mass assumes the outer position shown to act as an unbalanced centrifugal mass. In Fig. 5 a pulley 23 rotating about an axle 24 inclined towards the horizontal has a frustoconical chamber 22 containing a mixture of shot and liquid. When the pulley is at rest the mass occupies the outer position shown while on starting it moves towards the zone of smaller diameter. On speeding-up the mass again moves towards the part of the chamber of greater diameter to provide the maximum centrifugal effect.
