Abstract
1,146,883. Centrifugal strainer separator. KLOCKNER-HUMBOLDT-DEUTZ, A.G. 4 May, 1966 [4 May, 1965], No. 19763/66. Heading BID. In a centrifugal strainer separator whose rotary sieve drum 1 is adapted for axial vibration, the drum is resiliently supported by rubber ring 5, at its material inlet end, and connected by internal cone or ribs 11 to a further resilient mounting at the discharge end, cone or ribs 11 being connected to an annular disc 24 which is held between rubber rings 22, 23 in annular channel 21 attached to drive shaft 17, whereby rotation is transmitted! from shaft 17 to drum 1 by mounting 24-21 but limited axial vibration of drum 1 or tilting due to misalignment of bearings is permitted. In use, shaft 17 is rotated by motor 14 and belt drive 15, 16, while a further motor 35 and eccentric shaft 32 reciprocate rod 29. Rod 29 is connected to disc 24 by a further pair of rubber rings 26, 27, disc 28 and bearings 30, 31 which transmit axial vibration to drum 1. The weight of drum 1 is taken by bearings 7, 8, 19, 20 and the machine frame 9 is mounted on rubber blocks 36, so that frame 9 and drum 1 form a two mass vibratory system. Housing 37 and material supply pipe 10 are fixed, liquid is discharged through opening 38 and solids flow out of the free end of the drum. The drum is in two parts 2, 3, secured together to grip flange 4 of cone 11, which has apertures 12 permitting material to flow along the drum.
