783,935. Spindling driving arrangements. SKF KUGELLAGERFABRIKEN GES. Oct. 21, 1955 [Oct. 23, 1954], No. 30198/55. Class 120(2) A spindle driving mechanism for textile spinning and twisting frames in which each spindle is driven by means of a separate driving wheel through an intermediate wheel is characterized in that the axis of the intermediate wheel is substantially parallel to the axis of the spindle and in that the intermediate wheel is pressed into contact with the driving wheel and the spindle wharve. In the arrangement shown the intermediate wheel 21 is located on a plate spring 23 which is connected with the intermediate wheel 21 and with the casing 10 by angular brackets 25 and 24 respectively. The plate spring 23 presses the intermediate wheel in a direction perpendicular to the line connecting the points of contact between the intermediate wheel and the spindle wharve, and between the intermediate wheel and the driving wheel. The drive is thus transmitted from the shaft 19 through the driving wheel 20 and the intermediate wheel 21 to the spindle wharve 14. The force with which the intermediate wheel is urged into operative position can be increased by providing a helical tension spring 26 or alternately by mechanical means such as weights. The surfaces of the various driving members may be covered with a material having a high co-efficient of friction. To prevent the spindle blade being pulled out during doffing a hook 16 which is yieldably held in place by a rubber sleeve 17 on a fastening screw 18 may be provided. The direction of rotation of the spindles may be reversed by moving the shaft 19 axially so that the rear face of the gear 20 engages the opposite side of the next adjacent intermediate wheel in the spindle line. In a second embodiment the intermediate wheel is of stepped formation so as to increase the spindle speed.
