Abstract

882,528. Driving spinning-spindles. BURKHARDT, O. W. March 2, 1959 [Nov. 29, 1958], No. 7120/59. Class 120(2) Spinning &c. spindles 6, 7 on a casing 1, Fig. 6, are driven from a common driving shaft running lengthwise of the casing, by an arrangement in which a central main spindle 7 is driven from the shaft and the other spindles are driven from it by positive-drive belts 9 engaging toothed wheels 8; the main spindle is driven by a worm engaging a worm wheel on the driving shaft; by a positivedrive belt between a toothed wheel on the spindle-shaft and a toothed wheel on a stub shaft driven from the driving shaft by interengaging bevels; or by a gear wheel 13, Fig. 2, on the spindle-shaft engaging a gear-wheel 14 on a stub shaft driven from the driving shaft 10 through a coupling 26 which can be disconnected by a handle 28 to interrupt the drive to a particular group of spindles while the others continue to function. The casing may be illuminated and be subdivided by a partition 2 the front part having windows 5.
