[Also in Group XXVIII] In a belt drive for the brush 1 of a vacuum cleaner a loose friction ring 6 is interposed between the small diameter motor spindle 5 and the belt to provide an initial friction reduction gear before the belt reduction. A similar friction ring can be interposed between the belt and the driven pulley 3 instead of, or in addition to, the ring 6.
