A detaching roller mecharism for a combing machine provided with a drawing roller and a carrying roller has the drawing roller driven from both its ends in order to reduce torque on it. A gear 6 transmits drive to a gear 4 on one end of the carrying roller 2 that has a gear 41 fixed to its other end. Gears 4, 41 drive gears 3, 3<SP>1</SP> on the drawing roller 1 through idlers 5, 51.
