Abstract

952,644. Building motions. TWEEDALES & SMALLEY Ltd. March 9, 1962 [March 9, 1961], No.8716/61. Heading DID. A builder motion for a ring frame or like textile machine in which a drive shaft 18 is coupled, e.g. by a drum 17, a flexable connection 15, a bar 14, a flexible connection 12 and a pulley 13, to drive a traverse rail 11, resilient means e.g. a coil spring is coupled to the drive shaft 18, e.g. via the drum 17 and a flexible connection 22, so that it becomes loaded when the shaft 18 is driven in a direction to lower the traverse rail and assists in driving the shaft when the latter is rotating to lift the traverse rail. Sets of elements 13,12,15,16, 17,18,19, 20, 22 are arranged at intervals along the length of the machine and associate with the common draw-bar 14. In the coupling between the shaft 18 and each associated spring it is preferable to arrange that connection 22 is divided and that the motion is transmitted via joined, but eccentrically, arranged drums such that the effective force applied by each spring to the shaft 18 remains approximately constant irrespective of the position of the traverse rail.
