Abstract
956,158. Picking motion. H. SCHMID. Aug. 25,1961 [Aug. 26,1960], No. 30705/61. Heading D1E. A picking cam 5 is driven for the greater part of each revolution by a catch 3 on the loom shaft 1 abutting a dog 4 on the cam, but whilst it is operating the picking stick 30, the cam is driven at a higher speed by a separate drive 13 coupled to the cam by a dog clutch 17. Springs 21 tend to engage the clutch 17, but a cam surface on the side of the picking cam keeps it disengaged except at the moment of picking. When the loom is being stopped, a wedge 32 enters between a clutch operating member 9 and the loom frame 25 to keep the clutch out of engagement.
